September 2013

With infrastructure projects underway across the country, we thought it would be interesting to have a look at the real impact these developments have on everyday life. This month we are delighted to publish the thoughts of renowned writer Gail Jennings from Ride Your City and Mobility Magazine, who investigates the concept of a “public transport lifestyle.”

Our September issue sees our quarterly look at the latest happenings in the food and beverage arena and with that in mind we take a look at how Massmart’s Cambridge Food brand has made an impact on the retail sector in double-quick time.

The impact of foreign investment in South Africa can be felt almost everywhere. Its presence is particularly strong in the mining sector. This month we take a look at activities at the Dilikong Chrome Mine, where ASA Metals – a venture between Chinese-owned East Asia Metals Investment Co. Ltd and Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise, has brought new impetus to a project that appeared to have a short life-span.

At present the Department of Energy has a wide ranging remit, geared towards delivering South Africa with affordable, reliable and sustainable energy supplies. We investigate the history of the department and some of the key issues it currently faces.
